Booker Shortlist 2022 – The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida
Will the Moon rise on this one?
BookWorm: Why it Could Win: This is my favourite so it should totally win.
Why it Might Not Win: This is my favourite so the judges are totally not going to let it win.
Tracy: Why it Could Win: Where to begin? Sri Lankan history that I have now learned a little about, beautiful writing that draws the reader in, a good plot and an overall idea that is just a bit different. And I know this has no bearing on the prize, but, dude, that cover is amazing.
Why it Might Not Win: There is a lot to digest, and it can be hard to follow at times.
Nicole: Why it Could Win: Clever, interesting, funny, relevant, unique. It’s my personal hope for the win.
Why it Might Not Win: Some found it a slog, so it might just be a bit too polarizing.
Anita: Why it Could Win: Good use of second person narration. That’s all I’ve got.
Why it Might Not Win: It’s a B-movie in book form with too many under-developed characters.
Lisa: Why it Could Win: it’s a complex story, with elements of magical realism, mystery, and political commentary.
Why it Might Not Win: Did anyone else find it hard to keep track of what was going on?
Have you read this one what do you think its chance are?
I love all of your short and sweet comments on each book. Thanks for your blog.
