Not just laugh out loud funny this was snort hot tea out of your nose in public funny.

This ARC was provided by Penguin UK (via NetGalley) in exchange for an honest review.

Synopsis from Goodreads: It’s the following Thursday.

Elizabeth has received a letter from an old colleague, a man with whom she has a long history. He’s made a big mistake, and he needs her help. His story involves stolen diamonds, a violent mobster, and a very real threat to his life.

As bodies start piling up, Elizabeth enlists Joyce, Ibrahim and Ron in the hunt for a ruthless murderer. And if they find the diamonds too? Well, wouldn’t that be a bonus?

But this time they are up against an enemy who wouldn’t bat an eyelid at knocking off four septuagenarians. Can The Thursday Murder Club find the killer (and the diamonds) before the killer finds them?

My Thoughts: Richard Osman has done one thing wrong with this book and that is not having the next ready to go straightaway! That said at least I now have something to look forward to.

This book was like a hug from your grandmother on a Sunday night in front of the wood fire – by that I mean it is a total comfort read. Yes the dead bodies do pile up but Joyce and the gang make sure that nothing ever gets too overwhelming.

In amongst all the humour there is also a touching story about friendship, love and sticking together and seriously I wish everyone in the world could have their own Bogdan.

Some of my favourite quotes:

“He buys three other books too, because he wants the bookshop still to be here when he comes back next week.”

“They asked me who my favourite author is and I said Boris Pasternak, even though it’s really Marian Keyes.”

“More women are murdering people these days…If you ignore the context, it is a real sign of progress.”

“The Daily Mail for him, the Guardian for her. How had they made that work over the years”

“When I get out, you’re a dead man’…’Well I’m seventy fiver, and you’ll be doing thirty years so, yeah agreed.”

Who would like this? If you read and enjoyed Thursday Murder Club you will love this. If you haven’t read Thursday Murder Club stop reading this and go get it! I would recommend this to anyone who needs more laughter in their life and lets face it who doesn’t need more laughter.

We want to hear from you! Have you read this book? What did you think?

I better get down to reading the first book, which I just gave to my sister for her birthday.

I haven’t found a group if characters that I have liked and care more about than the Thursday Murder Club and friends. Truly incredible and I hope this continues for a long time.
