Booker International Shortlist 2023: Time Shelter by Georgi Gospodinov
Is it time for a Bulgarian winner.
BookWorm:
Why it Could Win:.For me this is the most original book on the shortlist. The idea of treating memory loss using a return to the past is fascinating as is the idea of the past repeating itself even with the warnings from the future.
Why it Might Not Win: It is not the most elegant book to read and at points it does get bogged down in details.
Rachel:
Why it Could Win: Thought-provoking, original concept, interesting ideas that get you thinking about your own life/world/experiences.
Why it Might Not Win: Just too much going on? It’s so clever, has so many strands, it’s possible to lose connection with the characters and the story.
Tracy:
Why it Could Win: A clever take on the treatment of dementia, it had me, and probably many, thinking about whether it could work.
Why it Might Not Win: It could get bogged down, and it was a bit sci-fi for some.
What do you think is this our winner?
