The Longlist is here! The Longlist is here!
No total left field picks this year … Nicole’s strategy backfired and I’m completely gutted to see that On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous didn’t make the list.

Jeanette Winterson (UK) – Frankissstein (Jonathan Cape)
So how did we do with our predictions?
Jen got 5
Book Worm got 2
Tracy got 4
Susie got 4
Anita with 6 (nicely done!)
Lisa got 1
Nicole got 5
Which books are you most excited to read?
I’m so disappointed about Gorgeous that I can hardly muster any excitement. I’d love to read The Testaments but haven’t been able to get my hands on it. Very excited about the Levy, I love her, and would love to get my hands on 10 minutes, 38 seconds, but not sure I’m willing to pay UK price for it. We’ll see.

I’m glad to see that the suggested US titles did not, after all, swamp the list. A nice mix of world writers. And I’m delighted that Black Leopard didn’t make the cut. I’m intrigued by the Lucy Ellmann Ducks etc. but doubt I will get to read it. Looking forward to other reader’s verdicts on this one. That’s why I am such a fan of the Readers Room!

Surprised to see “My Sister the Serial Killer” on the list. But I DID rate it 4****.

After everything I’ve heard about the Vuong, I was so disappointed it didn’t make the list. Guess it’s time to start adding these to my TBR and seeing what I can get.

I haven’t read any of them although I do have My Sister, The Serial Killer in my TBR pile so will definitely try to read that. I haven’t read anything by Deborah Levy but I quite like the sound of The Man Who Saw Everything. I read Three Daughters of Eve by Elif Shafak and although I didn’t love it as much as others I’d be interested to read this latest one.

I loved My Sister the Serial Killer, but was surprised to see it on this list. It will not make the short list. Lost Children Archive should make it onto the short list. It was extraordinary! I’ll for sure read The Testaments when it comes out and also hope to get to An Orchestra of Minorities.
