Harper Lee passes away at age 89

It is being reported that Harper Lee, author of To Kill A Mockingbird has passed away at age 89. You can read more about that story here

I have read TKAM multiple times. It was a childhood favorite of mine and I also enjoyed it as an adult. I was sad to hear the news although she has been struggling with a variety of health problems in recent years.

Please share any thoughts you have about her books or about the author. Did you love TKAM as much as we did?

Oh no! How sad! I loved To Kill a Mockingbird. Have not read Go Set a Watchman yet

It is very sad news. I personally didn’t really like Watchman although it was interesting to read from the perspective of seeing how her thoughts evolved into why was ultimately published as TKAMB

More ripples of sadness after David Bowie and Alan Rickman – what a literary legacy Harper Lee leaves behind though…

I only read TKaM a couple of years ago — I’m not sure how I missed it. The book definitely deserves it’s classic status. I am actually boycotting reading the 2nd book. In my opinion, Lee did not want this novel published and I think someone was taking advantage of her, so I made the decision that I wouldn’t read it.

Comes to us all in the end nonetheless, sad.
