Synopsis from Goodreads: Eva Dunbar wakes in a large metal box.
She has no idea who has taken her.
She has no way out.
She isn’t the first young woman to disappear.
And with no leads Detective Ian Bradshaw has precious little time.
When at last a body is found, the police hope the tragic discovery might at least provide a clue that will help them finally find the kidnapper.
But then they identify the body – and realise the case is more twisted than they ever imagined . . .
Book Worm’s Thoughts: In the immortal words of Britney Spears “Ooops I did it Again” this time the book is only number 4 in the series but it still bothers my anal heart to read it out of order.
With this book I think you would be better of reading the series in order as the central characters have a back story that adds to the events of this particular novel. That said if you are not bothered by the relationship developments between the characters and are just interested in the crime itself then reading as a standalone is no problem.
This was a solid thriller that I breezed through in just over a day the main problem for me was it reminded me too much of Kiss the Girls by James Patterson. In terms of chills, graphic scenes and head count this is a much tamer version of the kidnapped girls trope. That said I enjoyed the central characters and their relationships that I will probably go back and read the others.
Who would like this? If you like your thrillers with less gore, less graphic murders and less sexual attacks against women then this series could be a good way to build up your tolerance.
We want to hear from you! Have you read this book? What did you think?
