I chose to visit Canada in the company of one of my favourite authors the inimitable Margaret Atwood as I have read most of her works for this trip I chose a new short story that is exclusive to Amazon – My Evil Mother. I am not normally a short story fan but this one worked for me.

This is the story of a woman looking back to when she was a child and believed her mother was a witch. There are hints that the mother was really a wise woman who knew herbal medicine but superstitions labelled her as weird, strange or a witch. Now grown the daughter wants answers but the mother remains ambiguous a trick the grown daughter has now embraced with her own daughter.

Did you join us on our trip? Let us know what you read.

Next up Egypt share your reading suggestions with us, we might need help LOL.

I read The Diviners by Margaret Laurence. She is a well known Canadian author and the two settings were in the province of Manitoba and a small farm about 80 km outside of Toronto in Ontario. It was a character study more than a plot driven book but I really enjoyed it.
