Gasp. Shudder. No Apeirogon or Love and Other Thought Experiments?

I guess I should feel grateful that The Mirror and the Light didn’t make the list.
★ Hated it & no redeeming additional qualities noted. Recommend avoiding it.
★★ Disliked it, may have 1 redeeming quality (writing style, novelty, etc).
★★★ Liked it or may have a few interesting qualities.
★★★★ Really liked it & it has at least a couple interesting qualities.
★★★★★ Loved almost everything about it. Only a few, if any, minor limitations noted.
★ Bah I really hated this would not even pass this to my worst enemy
★★ I really didn't like this but would consider giving it to my worst enemy for vengeful purposes
★★★ this was an enjoyable way to pass the time not great not horrendous
★★★★ really enjoyed this book there was something about it that made me think

Interestingly, the 6 shortlist books were smack in the middle of The Reader’s Room ranking. Y’all liked 4 books more, then these 6 books were all in a row, and then you liked 3 books less.

False. I forgot that everyone hated The New Wilderness. LOL! But the other 5 were right in the middle of the pack! LOL

Well: with the Booker …. you just never know. I think its perfectly reasonable that the Mantel was omitted – give others a chance etc. And I like the diversity.

Congrats to Lisa for correctly predicting 4 books! Wow. Susie, Anita and Tracy all predicted 3, I got 2 and BookWork got 1. What a list!

I would say thanks, but I’m really disappointed that The New Wilderness was on there, and Apeirogon or LAOTE weren’t.

I had only read The Mirror and the Light. I’m shocked it was not included. But I guess I shouldn’t. Looks like we are looking more at relevancy based on current events. Instead of masterful writing about past events, as if history was no longer relevant. scary
