February 2019 Round Up

Book Worm’s February Reading Round Uptempsnip

In February I managed to read 9 books which is slightly below my normal average and I am blaming this on Auto Da Fe and Castle Richmond both of which took me ages to read as they failed to hold my interest. These were books for my reading 1001 challenge so I refused to give up until they were complete this meant other books had to wait.

My statistics breakdown for February: 2 ARCs, 1 Library book, 2 Kindle TBRs, 1 DTB (dead tree book) TBR, 1 Kindle Purchased and read and 2 DTB purchased and read.

My male/female ratio was incredibly bad this month with only 2 of the 9 books being written by women.

Diversity in terms of nationality was actually good this month with 5 of the 9 books written by authors from countries other than the UK and the USA.

Favourite Book: A Dry White Season this book blew me away and I think it is an important read. Honourable mentions go to The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle (one of the most creative books I have read) The Wolf and the Watchman and A Storm of Swords (Martin certainly took the advise “kill your darlings” to heart with this instalment of Game of Thrones.

Least Favourite Book: In case you haven’t already guessed I have 2 least favourite books Auto Da Fe and Castle Richmond I gave both of these 3 stars so they weren’t terrible they just weren’t for me.

Coming up in March – Read Around the World moves to South Sudan join us by letting us know what books you read that fit this criteria.

More reviews of ARCs and 1001 books.

Exciting March Releases:

Gingerbread by Helen Oyeyemi

Spring by Ali Smith

The Snakes Sadie Jones

What new books are you looking forward to?

  1. The Reader on the 627 was wonderful – I loved it! Andre Brink is one of South Africa’s sacred literary cows, but I don’t enjoy his books. Think I’ll hunt for the Evelyn Hardcastle book. Thanks for the reviews.

  2. The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle is appealing to me. I already have Dry White Season so am thinking to move that up the list given your comments
