Most Anticipated 2018 Books
Happy New Year to all our fabulous readers! We wish you a year full of joy, happiness, and great reads. In December I spent more time planning my reads for next year than I have doing any actual reading. Overall, 2017 was a pretty good reading year for me. I really enjoyed the Man Booker nominees and I read a lot of great literary fiction. We are hoping that this year brings us even better books. Below are a few books that are coming out in the first half of 2018 to help you plan your reading year. What are your plans for 2018?
January:

Winter by Ali Smith. This was released in the UK in November.

I am, I am, I Am: Seventeen Brushes with Death by Maggie O’Farrell
How to Stop Time by Matt Haig
Jagannath: Stories by Karin Tidbeck. Technically this is already out but is being pushed as a 2018 release. While I don’t love short stories, this collection sounds pretty amazing.
Sadness Is a White Bird by Moriel Rothman-Zecher
Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi. Debut novel set in Nigeria
What Are We Doing Here: Essays by Marilynne Robinson
March:
The House of Broken Angels by Luis Alberto Urrea. Mexican-American immigrant story.
The Parking Lot Attendant by Nafkote Tamirat. Coming of age story set in Boston’s Ethiopian community
The Gunners by Rebecca Kauffman
April:
The Female Persuasion by Meg Wolitzer
May
Only Human by Sylvain Neuvel. The third book of the Themis Files, a series I have enjoyed.
The Destiny Thief by Richard Russo. Short stories about writing, writers, and life.
June
Florida by Lauren Groff

I agree on the Hannah assessment. Some of her other books have struck the emotionally overwrought note with me so, despite being enamored with The Nightingale, I am tempering my expectations of this new one.
But you know it will sell like hot cakes

I am looking forward to Ali Smith’s Winter after loving Autumn. I have loved some Eggers (but disliked others) but will definitely read The Monk of Mokha as he tends to be better with a non-fictional base. Also Bookworm’s review of Gnomon definitely made me put that on my TBR stack (which is unfortunately rather huge at the moment). Happy New Year everyone.

Circe by Madeleine Miller is out in April- I loved Song of Achilles, so I’m excited for this one. And Winter comes to my house in 8 Days! Well, the book. The season is certainly here. It’s 10 below out there right now. Happy New Year everybody!

Thank you for this post. I really haven’t explored upcoming titles at all so this whet my appetite. Of the ones you posted, I’m definitely in for the Wolitzer, and Jagannath sounds right up my alley (and I do like short stories).
