Hour 9 Mini Challenge: Cast your Book
Hello fellow readers and welcome to the 9th hour of the Readathon! We are really excited to be hosting our very first mini challenge. For those of you new to our blog, we hope you take the chance to check it out and if you like what you see follow us here, twitter, Facebook, or Instagram!
As book lovers, we know that the book is always better than the movie and we’ve probably all been baffled at some of Hollywood’s choices when it comes to casting our favorite book characters (um, Demi Moore as Hester in the Scarlet letter anyone??). Well now it’s up to you to correct Hollywood’s mistakes. We’re calling all armchair casting directors and asking you to list who you would cast for your book.
The challenge: Tell us (in the comments section of this post) which book you are currently reading and give us your casting choices for the book’s main characters. Tell us who you cast, for what role, and why they fit the role. If you are reading a book that has already been made into a movie, re-cast it with different actors. We will randomly select a winner from among all entries.

The Reader's Room 
I just started reading Velvet by Temple West! I love this book and this is a re-read for me. No matter what vampire I read about I feel like I will always picture Ian Somherholder as said vampire, and this goes for this book too. (I have a big crush on that man.) lol As for the main female character, Caitlin, I would love for Anna Kendrick to play her!

I am reading The Wonder by Emma Donoghue and I would love to see Alicia Vikander as the main character, Lib Wright. I think she would bring a touch of “English” snobbery to the role which takes place in Ireland (even though she is Swedish) and also a good balance of being unsure of herself and quite sure of herself as she struggles with her assignment. Of course, I am only 1/3 of the way through the book so I could be jumping the gun.

I’m reading Throne of Glass, I’ve just read a hundred pages or so, but I already have a mental image of Celaena, Dorian and Chaol.
For Celaena I’m picturing Cara Delavigne. I feel that she could really pull it off with her beauty, facial expressions and inner strenght. She would be a good Celaena.
My Dorian is Max Irons. I know he’s blond, but they could dye his hair….he’s face just scream “Dorian” to me.
Finally, I pick Scott Eastwood for Chaol. He’s totally got it, his tough expression is perfect.

I’ve begun listening to Turning of the Screw by Henry James. I’m very early on, but here goes. As I read I see the beginning as the gentleman is telling a group of listeners the story we are about to see as Tom Hanks (oddly not a lead, but soft gently spoken almost like a bedtime story) The governess Ann should be played by Rachel McAdams and the two children she’s in charge of Millie Boddy Brown (from Stranger Things) and Daniel Huttlestone (the young boy from Les Mis the musical and Into the Woods -Jack)

I’m reading Shadow & Bone by Leigh Bardugo. For Alina, I’d cast Maisie Williams because she seems like she has a good look for the part, and could do the awkward spunkiness of Alina well. For the Darkling, I would cast Jonas Armstrong. He seems like he could alternately play roguish and endearing, as well as villain. Finally, for Mal, I would cast Chris Pratt. He’s got the look, though should probably be younger, but he also has the easygoing vibe Mal gives off at first.

I’m currently reading The Light Between Oceans. It’s being made into a movie but I haven’t watched the trailer or looked into what actors have been cast bc I don’t want to spoil myself for the movie or look at how I see the characters differently.
I have no idea who i would cast. but I’m going to say that I would cast Lilly Collins, Ryan Gosling (? idk 😛 ) and Maggie Elizabeth Jones as the main characters.

I’m reading The Cure of Souls by Phil Rickman, and I simply can’t imagine any woman vicar except Dawn French. For Lol Robinson, it should be someone scruffy and sincere, but not sure who that would be. For Merrily’s daughter Jane, it would be Jordan Hinson, who played Zoe on Eureka. Her boyfriend “Irene” would be Zoe’s boyfriend on Eureka, played by Vanya Asher.
