    • Thanks! There are two of us so we have covered some ground. I’m probably close to 300 now but have to update the list. I seem to have different tallies for my 1001 app, shelfari list, and here so I have to go through and consolidate.

203 is impressive. We both still have lots of work to do on the list! Are you trying to read them all?

  2. Cor, that’s quite the list. But why are there 1305 if it’s “1001” books to read?

    • Technically it’s 1001 books on the most recent list. But the editors have come out with updates editions of the book every two years. Each addition they remove some and add others. we are trying to read lol the books that were ever listed on any edition. That number is around 1300

    • A mixed bag. I have found some I loved and other I truly hated. It is fun to try to read through the list though and it’s been worth it to discover some gems

  5. Wow, what an incredible list! It must’ve taken you a while to compile this? I’ve read 100 of those books, and own about 200 of them. Aren’t there books listed in earlier editions which are removed in more recent editions…or do they just add on? Because if they actually remove some books, does that mean that they’re not “worthy” anymore?

I have one edition of this book, I think it’s the very first edition.

    • The original one took a while to compile but for the blog I copied and pasted. We’ve actually included the whole list with books from all editions so it’s over 1300 books now. Books do get removed each edition. I think they are still considered worthy just newer additions are considered more worthy. There’s a 1001 app that will list them by edition so you can see what has been added or deleted each version

      • I think I’ll check out the app…sounds interesting, even though I don’t think I want to read everything on the list. I do look at the edition I have every once in a while, especially when in a reading slump.

So have you estimated roughly how long it would take you to read all the books on that list?

      • The app will estimate it for you. I am estimated to be finished with the list at 60. Although some books are not available in English or Spanish- the two languages I can read fluently. I think a few available in French which I can read a little but would take me forever

      • Whoa…that’s a long time! Plus they add more books every new edition. Well, at least it’s a worthwhile project! Good luck! 🙂
